“Galileans, why are you standing here, looking toward heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way that you saw him go into heaven.” (Acts 1.11)
Below are ideas for interactive prayer stations focusing on themes surrounding Christ’s resurrection and ascension. You can view more photos here.
For Easter, I decorated the sanctuary by hanging cut out letters of scripture quotes from the Good Friday and Easter story.
Interactive Prayer Station #1: Transforming Journey
Materials: Pasta (Pastina, Shell, Bow Tie, Rotini), votive candle holders, Tea Light Candles
I bought votive candles on sale for a cheap price. Sometimes hobby or fabric stores have them on sale or you can find them at a dollar store.
Interactive Prayer Station #2: Transforming Beginnings
Materials: String, Craft Sticks, Pipe Cleaners
I tied a butterfly macrame knot at one end of the string. You can find instructions for all different designs on youtube.
I adapted this from a lesson I found on Danielle’s Place.
Interactive Prayer Station #3: Transforming Blessings
Materials: Paper, Sharpies, Cupcake Liners, Clothes Pins, Tape
I cut out butterfly shapes and then a slit in the middle so that it can clip onto edges.
Love these ideas Theresa! Thanks for sharing your gifts 🙂
Can you tell me how big the letters are that were used to decorate the sanctuary?
Thank you!
Honestly it depends on the size of your sanctuary and the impact you are wanting. I think I made the letters about a foot long because I was using long phrases.
Thank you! It really looks great and I would like to do something similar for our church this Easter. I’m assuming you used something like a cricut machine?
Circut would be easier. I did it all by hand.
Can you post the template for the butterflies?
Hi Lulu, I just googled “butterfly template” and a bunch show up that you can just print out and cut. Hope that is helpful.
Yet again I have been blessed, encouraged and stimulated by your inspirational website. Thank you so much. We have been using some of your ideas to bless Scotland!
