I love incorporating a theme into all aspects of the church. Below is a theme that incorporated an adult bible study where we looked at Marcus Borg’s “Reading the Bible Again,” confirmation class, and worship.

We did a worship series on “This I Believe,” inviting the worshippers to consider their own statement of faith during difficult and generous moments in our lives as well as looking at corporate creeds such as the Belhar Confession, Apostle’s Creed, etc.

As a visual, I had our youth as a part of the confirmation class help prep the art installation. They wrote some of the creeds mentioned above on scrolls of paper. The paper was “aged” using coffee and burning the edges. They also created a community statement of faith as a part of the class to share in worship.
